TASQ uses three cookies. All three are needed for the app to work. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies and no cookies from other parties. That is why TASQ does not ask for consent and why you see no cookie banner.
The cookies TASQ sets
- tasq_session
- Keeps you signed in. Contains a signed proof of sign-in, no personal data in readable form. Cannot be read by javascript in the page. Expires after fourteen days, or earlier if you sign out.
- tasq_last_speaq_did
- Remembers that you previously signed in with SPEAQ ID on this device, so that button appears first next time instead of the code by email. Expires after one hundred and eighty days.
- NEXT_LOCALE
- Remembers whether you want the app in Dutch or English. Set by the language router. Expires when you close your browser.
Why there is no cookie banner
Consent is required for cookies that are not needed to deliver the service, such as cookies that track your behaviour or target advertising. TASQ has none of those.
All three cookies above are strictly necessary: without the first you are signed out, without the third the app is in the wrong language. A banner asking permission for that would be a question to which no is not a usable answer.
If statistics are ever added, we will put a real consent question in front of it and not a bar that can only be dismissed.
What else is stored on your device
Besides cookies, the app keeps a few things in your browser's storage. Formally those are not cookies, but for the question of what of yours is held on your own device, that makes no difference.
- Your theme
- Whether you want TASQ light or dark. Stays until you clear it.
- The install tip
- Whether you dismissed the tip to put TASQ on your home screen, so it does not come back.
- The offline shell
- The app's background service keeps an offline page, the fonts and the icons, so TASQ still shows something when you briefly have no connection. It holds no content of your tasks.
- Your push subscription
- Only if you turn on push notifications. Your browser then creates and manages a subscription itself; we keep a reference to it.
How to remove them
You clear them through your browser settings, under the data for this site. Note what happens then: you are signed out, your theme choice is gone and the app returns to the default language. Nothing is lost from your tasks or documents, because those are not on your device but on the server.
If you added TASQ to your home screen, do not remove the app there to clear its storage. On a phone that erases more than you intend. Use your browser settings for this site instead.
